Themed Visit to London
The plan for the visit is to have a guided walking tour around parts of Central London in the Piccadilly and St James area where for a time Cobbett lived, as did others such as Sir Francis Burdett, and where there were (and still are) a number of booksellers and print dealers. We plan for the last part of the visit to be to the recently renovated National Portrait Gallery which contains pictures connected with Cobbett in its main display: and we have also managed to book a special presentation in the Public Study Room at the end of the visit to see some extra dozen or so prints and paintings from the archives (which will include some Gilray cartoons and Doyle sketches).
The visit will be for members only. There will be no charge. Members will have to get themselves to Central London by public transport.
The numbers of places for the trip will be limited to 20. In addition the NPG have a smaller limit (15) on the numbers in the Public Study Room. This means that we will have to take bookings on a strictly first come first served basis by emails to the contacts page on this website.
